Meet Fugro’s Martin Galavazi

Martin Galavazi, Coordinator Geotechnical Division, from the Fugro Academy shares his experiences developing content with the Mohive eLPS.

1. How long have you been developing courses using Mohive?
We have been developing courses for 6 months now. At the start we only had a few authors but the number of authors is rapidly increasing.

2. What software did you use before deploying Mohive’s eLPS?
None. We reviewed software from several other providers: mostly desktop packages, but decided to go with Mohive because the web-based solution allows us to reach our experts globally.

3. What type of courses do you develop?
A large variety of courses actually, courses that we are currently working on range from technical specialist courses on subjects such as engineering and offshore drilling to health and safety courses.

4. And how long are the courses you develop?
The modules we prepare are typically 30 minutes long. We try to keep the courses ‘modular’ so we can prepare a course by combining several modules.

5. What aspect of the Mohive system do you find most helpful?
The most valuable aspect of the Mohive system is the fact that the system is web-based. This allows us to provide system access to our experts globally without having to consider installation or licensing issues.

6. Which Mohive templates do you find particularly valuable for the type of course you develop and what features make them your preferred choice?
My two favorites are without a doubt the Flexi template and the Classic MC. The Flexi template allows for unique course requirements whereas the Classic multiple choice allows an author to ‘communicate’ with the learner through the feedback on the answers given.

7. What tip have you discovered that you would like to share with other Mohive users?
The copy and paste function for slides, modules or chapters. Most users will be familiar with the functionality but because it is not straight forward, some may not be aware of it. By pressing the CTRL-key and then clicking on a chapter, module or slide the system allows you to copy and paste whatever you select.

8. Is there any other feedback you would like to include?
The support we get from the Mohive helpdesk is excellent. It allows our authors to work around any difficulties with relative ease and carry on authoring.
